If Lady Gaga and Katy Perry's latest videos are any indication, the 80s are back in big ways, and I don't just mean shoulder pads. This decade was all about color, and like any trend what goes around will eventually come around again. The mix matching of neutrals with neon accents or unique color combinations like orange and purple is back in both small and big ways. However, this trend is a tricky one to master. Too many overpowering colors can quickly take you from trendsetter to an exploding highlighter. To avoid looking like the latter, here are some celeb style cues:
1. Don't go overboard like Kim K. did at a recent event pictured below wearing purple, orange, and green shoes. Too many colors is too much of a good thing. This actually results in a bad thing.
2. Do mix a neutral with a pop of color in a form of accessories. This was where Kim K. corrected herself when she wore a black blazer, blue jeans, and then added a pop of color with her Hermes lime bag pictured above. Her grandma even jumped aboard, sporting a hot pink jacket, with an all black ensemble underneath.
3. One style suggestion to consider actually comes from an O.C. housewife. Alexis Bellino and her new line of "Alexis Couture" gets it right this season. With colors ranging from baby blues to vibrant orange, this fashion label has pieces that are must haves. One of our personal favorites from her collection is an orange, light, and silky handmade short dress by Alexis and designer Tal Sheyn. While some people have doubted the housewife and labeled her as another brainless beauty, Mrs. Bellino has proven she can stand with the big girls. Perfect for a night out and right on trend, the piece pictured above, entitled "Paparazzi Love It," will have you getting attention for all the right reasons, and at $279, it is reasonably priced and worth it. Whether you buy the dress or not, the bottom line is grab hold of the technological trend into fashion and nuke it neon this season. Just remember the key is balance. There can be too much of a good thing, or in this case, a trend.
