Japan's WOW

Today's words of wisdom were inspired by the tragic events that occurred in Japan. From detailed footage showing waves and screams, to the kindness of the survivors offering their little portions to American journalists, this tragedy has awaken humanity. Not only has it awakened it to respect for life and nature, but respect for the value of that life. It has inspired me to appreciate my life, if even a tiny bit more, and realize that the little I have can still go along way. That is why I donated by purchasing a Gaga "Pray for Japan" bracelet. The entire profit goes to helping rebuild. While I may not understand what people there are going through, I can still learn from mother nature. In this event is a lesson that Emily Dickenson, my favorie female poet and writer said and these are my WOW for the day: "that it will never come again is what makes life so sweet." So, please appreciate the right now, and live it, even though it may be hard. Because ultimately, as the tsunami has taught, God gave us today, but will He give us tomorrow?

Show The World Your Teeth

Despite religion, color, creed sometimes it takes a tragedy like the one in Japan to remind us that ultimately humanity is one. To show your support for the relief efforts, do like I did and purchase a Gaga bracelet for $5. Not only is it cute, but 100% of the proceeds will go to helping Japan recover. Gather little monsters and show the world your teeth and unity. The bracelets can be pruchased at Gaga's official online store now.

WOW: Work of Wisdom

Instead of the usual words of wisdom, today we celebrate a work of wisdom done by the great William Klein. William Klein was and still is one of the greatest fashion photographers. Shooting for Vogue and known for natural lighting and irony, did you know that Klein was actually trained in art and not photography? Today on this lazy Sunday I want to give a shout out to a man that changed the face of fashion by infusing art back into it. By taking the lines of reality and blurring them, let's honor him by revisiting one of his earlier pieces, "Gun 2." Taken in 1954 on a return trip to his hometown of NYC, the big apple here is not as fresh or sweet as people dream it. Like Klein, let us be reminded that sometimes reality doesn't need to be messed with to be art. Reality sometimes is the best art. Let us take note and be inspired today to go forth and find fashion and art in what is, not what is messed with.

Feathers Are in Fashion

From Mardi Gras celebrations to earrings, feathers are in bloom this Spring. The latest form: feather hair extensions. Being performed exclusively in Los Angeles, hair stylists from Planet Blue are advertising this new affordable trend. Cheaper than regular extensions, the new feathers are becoming a hit with Tinseltown and were most recently sported by the newly single Jessica Biel. What do you think: Will the feathered hair make it east or should they stay in California?

A Modern "Mad Man"

Mouret's latest FALL 2011 women's wear RTW collection took note from the hit series "Mad Men" in color and cut when it came to the catwalk. From furs to low cut cleavage, the cult classic was given a modern take. With sensual, but conservative silhouettes, the show bordered on boring, but the return of emerald during the final take, made the impression lasting.

Mugler Goes Goo-Goo for Gaga

Thiery Mugler took a lesson from the Hous of Gaga at this week's Paris debut of his women's FALL 2011 RTW collection. Not only did he use Gaga as a muse and model during the show while blasting her "Born This Way" track, but the label followed in suit. With hints of latex and see-through, the theme of the show was born in a similar sense, using latex and heavy colors, the theme was sacrificial/ritualistic and bordering on religious androgyny, and Gaga certainly proved its goddess.

Lady Gaga Crosses Over to the Dark Side

When it comes to her hair collection, Gaga has crossed over. Making her debut as a stunning runway model in this week's Mugler show, the "Born This Way" singer also debuted a new do, but what did we expect? Sporting black bangs and extremely long blonde locks, the newly minted supermodel also debuted a Marilyn channeling mole with red lips as she celebrated how else, but in her birthday suit...oh and some little cheetah spots to cover her rocking goodies. All we can say is meow! Hey maybe for her next collab she could get Tom Jones to remake "What's New Pussycat?" with her, because it looks like this fashion forward songstress knows and she's not telling anytime soon.

Something 'Incredible' This Way Comes

The Victoria's Secret Angels were seen taking flight earlier in the week as they debuted the brand's newest fragrance, 'Incredible' and the perfume wasn't the only thing making sweet aromas. The women from Adriana to Candice hit the pavements in promotion wearing fresh spring colors and sequins. Though the dresses were mini and the bodies enviable, it was just another day in the life of an angel. Maybe next time they'll wear their wings. Will you be buying the fragrance?

Kim K.'s Voice May Be the Only Thing About Her That's Flat

Kim Kardashian continues in her attempt at world domination with the release of her first single "Jam." After admitting to being nervous on Ryan Seacrest's radio show earlier today, Kim K. did acknowledge it was her first time singing and it was for charity. While the aim was nice and the song was decent, her voice itself is weak. She sounds like she is talking the whole time and depends on the auto-tune and beat to carry her through. Stick with the...wait a minute what is it that you do? Oh yeah, stay gorgeous and classy I guess. I mean you can't deny you'd love to stare at her and her assets all day, but singing isn't one of them. When it coes to music and singing, this is the first time it's okay to describe Kim K. as flat. You can listen for yourself on Kim's blog or a radio soon near you.

An Oxymoron

Is it possible to be a vixen and innocent at the same time? This was what Roberto Cavalli had us asking when he debuted the FALL 2011 RTW collection for his Just Cavalli line. Between dainty floral prints and matronly cuts the show was channeling "Little House on the Prairie" while the heavy smoky eyes were more like "the Addams Family." Combined it literally became a walking contradiction, and while there were some traditonal animal and jean prints we expected from the label, the opposites attract thing it had going on left an uncomfrtable taste in our mouths.

Mod in Motion

One of the latest Fall 2011 RTW collections to debut was Piazza Sempione. The Italian house welcomed us in with rich fall colors ranging from emeralds to orange and reminding us that fall also offers the opportunity to start anew from a blank slate with beige. The vintage and retro feel given off from the symmetrical and basic cuts was a return to the era of Audrey and Warhol. With few pieces and fewer surprises, the designs felt like nothing new, yet comfortable sending the message that mod is back in motion. (Photos from and more at style.com)

Clear as Ice and Cold As It Too

Iceberg's FALL 2011 RTW collection gave off mixed signals this week. On one end it was right on trend with pillowy trousers and off the shoulder gowns like the beaded black gown and leather ones featured above, but on another it hit murky frozen waters with grandma sweaters(see above) and acqua colors. Between Fall trends and spring colors, it seemed as if the fashion house could not settle on a season. Hint: look at your name. So while the confusion was clear as ice, it was as cold as it too. *Unless otherwise noted photos courtesy of style.com.*

"You're Going to Make Me Blush!"

At Least that was what I wanted to scream after witnessing the delicacy of Armani's FALL 2011 RTW Collection prance across the runway. Staying true to the fine tailoring of his house, Armani expanded it with blush tones and silky trousers this time around. At one point, Armani paid homage to himself with a black shirt decorated with his own face. One look at the new collection and you'll be blushing too.

Manifest Destiny

Gold, riches, uncharted territory. These were the themes that built America and the Wild West, and these were the themes of the latest Fall 2011 RTW show by Dsquared2. From exaggerated cowboy hats given a chic dip in black, to the good old leather and furs that kept our ancestors warm (sorry PETA), the West was reminded of how it was won, and as this collection proves, it certainly was.
