Here is a sneak peek at some poems I wrote that will be included in a book I am working on,
Silence of a Lamb. The concept for it is to share my life experiences through my poems. Here are a few of my favorite ones:
“Shaken not stirred”
If life were to be shaken. not stirred
Well life then my good lord
Would be regarded as absurd!
“The Chronicles of My Life”
The chronicles of my life are written on my hands,
My face, my wrinkles like the valleys
I danced through as a child singing and laughing.
Expressions told my tale,
And evidence of these chronicles will hold me as I am frail.
The chronicles of my life can be found in my hair
That has grayed with the changing of the seasons.
A cold came through that turned me white as snow,
And these strings that dangle across my brow
Are proof that I am a woman of yesteryear bewildered by now.
The chronicles of my life are written upon these lips:
A chapped, crimson red that has served as the shore line to my changing tides,
And standing witness to loss of innocence as I bathed them in a many lies.
It has weathered a many of my storms and that of the others
Who shared in its flavor and drained from it its colors.
The chronicles of my life are written in this form:
A soul held by a mind and heart,
Enclosed within a body bordered by
A picture frame that changes with history.
The chronicles of my life are written by, within, and on me.
“Dancing With Myself”
May I have this dance I asked as those hands enveloped mine,
And darkness was forgotten as we stood alone in the spotlight
The slow pace of the rythym changed with my request
And I danced myself away that nightLeaving treadmarks in the shadows that chased my shining light
The glares were all a spectacle as the audience gazed on
Astonished by the flow of my white dress as I spun and split across the dance floor
Faces bewildered by my actions: “Why would she take that risk to place faith in another?”
My simple response would be, “because I am guaranteed to land in the arms of one I trust. Now will you excuse me, kind sir and madam, while I go dancing with myself.”
