A Leap and a Jump of Faith

Rocking the Romper

This season is all about the romper. From floral patterns to nude colors, this retro throwback comes in all shapes and sizes, and depending on the cut, can fit any body type. For example, Heidi Klum is pictured rocking the romper in a nude, flare cut. This works appropriately for her tall frame. The same goes for Kim Kardashian who is flaunting her hourglass figure in the jumpsuit. Even though the jumpsuit is baggy and could potentially make her look round, the key here is in the accessories. Kim makes the romper a hit and not a miss by adding a belt. However, not everyone is able to follow suit and rock the romper.

Ruining the Romper

Not all rompers are created equally. Some come in a skinny leg, some in flare. Others are wide-leg with v-cuts, and still others come with sleeves. The key here is body type. For example, skinny rompers may look best on willowy frames, while belted rompers and flares may help hide that extra jiggle of the curvy frame.

Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum are just two examples of stars that make this trend a hit. They do it because they work with what they have. However, the same cannot be said for others.

One of the most notable trespassers when it comes to this trend is Jennifer Lopez. The usual fashion maven looks more like a fashion victim when she hit the carpet in a nude, sparkled romper. It is not the color, but the cut that makes it a miss. From the fit to the harem pants, the suit does not suit J. Lo. The cut shortens her legs and almost gives her the dreaded camel-toe. Perhaps if the suit could be flared at the end and a little looser, "Jenny from the Block" would be another celebrity to rock the romper.
